Use case

A call waiter button that lives on a QR code

Table service without a radio pager, and without a phone call.

Some call waiter buttons are hardware: a puck on the table that lights a pager. ReferLift is the other kind. The button is a QR code. The guest's phone is the button. They ask for water, a server, napkins, or the bill, and the table number is already on the alert.

How the QR call button works

  1. 1

Put a code on the table

Print a table tent or a small sign for each table. The code is that table, not a generic restaurant code.

  2. 2

The guest sends a request, not a call

Scan opens the browser. Choosing a server sends a request to staff. It does not dial a phone. Choosing the bill does not charge a card.

  3. 3

Answer the table you can already see

Staff see the table and the request in a shared inbox. A server can open that inbox on a phone while they are on the floor.

When a QR button helps

It helps when the dining room is loud enough, or large enough, that a wave gets missed, and when the common needs are water, a refill, cutlery, or the check. Those are the trips that stack up on a busy service. The restaurant plan is $39 per location per month after 15 days free. A card is required.

It helps less when the promise of the room is that a guest never has to ask. Keep a server in that room. The sign is a quiet flag, not a replacement for the floor.

What it will not do

It will not take the order, split the check, or add a tip. Restaurants that want order-and-pay from the same QR should look at a point-of-sale product. The Toast comparison is the honest version of that choice. A cafe with a few tables can use the same ReferLift plan, described on the cafe page.

Questions

Common questions

Is this a wireless pager button?
No. There is no table puck and no staff pager to buy. The guest uses a QR code and the phone browser. You can also write the table link to an NFC tag.
Does "call waiter" ring a phone?
No. It sends a request to the staff inbox. It is not a phone call.
How much is a QR call waiter button?
$39 per restaurant location per month after a 15-day free trial. A card is required to start. Cancel anytime.
Can the guest pay from the button?
No. The bill button asks staff to bring the check. ReferLift does not collect payment.
