Use case

Let guests ask for a refill, the check or a server from a QR code

A table request is not an order, and it is not a payment.

A QR table request lets a guest ask for a refill, the check, or a server without waving across the room. They scan the code at the table, tap the request, and staff see that table. ReferLift does not install an app on the guest's phone, and a check request does not collect payment.

How a refill, check, or server request works

  1. 1

    The guest scans the table

The QR code or NFC tag is that table. The page opens in the phone browser. The guest does not pick a table from a list and does not download an app.

  2. 2

They tap water, a refill, napkins, a server, or the check

Those are the requests. A server request is a message to staff. It does not dial a phone. A check request tells the team the table wants the bill. It does not total the check or take a card.

  3. 3

The server sees the table and the request

The shared inbox shows which table asked and what they asked for. Staff mark it resolved when the water, the napkins, or the check has been handled. The same inbox opens in a phone browser.

If a guest will not scan

Some guests will still catch a server's eye, and some phones will have no signal. Keep a person on the floor. The QR sign is another way in. It is not a locked door, and it does not work when the phone cannot open the page. A guest without a phone still needs a human.

Where it fits, and where it does not

It fits a patio, a bar, a cafe, and a busy dining room where a small request should not require a wave. It is a poor fit for fine dining that depends on a server the guest never has to summon. Do not put a call button in a room where the point of the meal is that nobody asks the guest to use a phone.

Setup is creating each table and printing the sign, or writing the same link to an NFC tag. ReferLift has not published a timed setup study, so this page does not claim a number of minutes. The restaurant plan is $39 per location per month after 15 days free. A card is required to start. Read how to cut wasted server trips and the 2026 call-waiter list before you compare tools.

Questions

Common questions

Is a QR table request impersonal?
It can feel that way if it replaces the server. Used well, it only carries the small ask: a refill, napkins, or the check. Keep someone on the floor for the rest of the meal.
What if the guest has no signal?
The page does not open, and the request is never sent. Staff still need to work the section. The QR code is not a backup for a dead phone or dead wifi.
Does asking for the check take payment?
No. ReferLift tells staff the table wants the check. It does not calculate the bill, store a card, or process a guest payment.
Which languages can the guest use?
The guest page is available in English and Spanish.
What does it cost?
The restaurant plan is $39 per location per month after a 15-day free trial. A card is required to start. The price is not per table.

Let the table ask for the refill. Keep the server for the meal.
