One server, more tables

The walk delivers the request. It does not go out to discover it.

Updated Oct 2026.

One server can cover more tables when each request already names the table. ReferLift puts a QR or NFC code on the table so a guest can order, pay, or ask for service without waiting to be seen. Staff get a ticket, not a wave from across the room. No app for guests, and no extra handheld to buy.

How can one server cover more tables?

  1. 1

Name every table with a code

A tent card or NFC tag is that table. The server does not have to guess which hand went up.

  2. 2

Let small asks arrive on their own

Water, napkins, a server, or the bill reach the inbox. The server walks to deliver, not to ask what was needed.

  3. 3

Let paid orders arrive as tickets

A guest who is ready to order does it in the browser and pays on the restaurant's Stripe account. The ticket shows the table.

  4. 4

Keep a person on the floor

Guests who will not scan still need a server. The code adds a path. It does not remove the person. ReferLift has not published a labor percentage.

How does a QR request change a server's walk?

ReferLiftAsking every table
Why the server walksTo deliver the thing the table already named. To discover whether the table needs anything.
Which tableThe ticket names it.The server has to look and guess.
Extra staffNot required to start.More tables often means another hire.
Guest appNo.None, but the wave still depends on eye contact.

Where does the labor saving come from?

The saving is the trip that used to ask a question. A refill, a bill request, or a paid ticket arrives with the table attached, so the next walk carries the thing. ReferLift does not claim a measured reduction in staff, a percent faster service, or a dollar of labor saved. Those numbers depend on the room. The price to try it is $79 per location per month after 15 days free, plus 0.5% of food and tax on paid orders, never on tips.

Questions

Common questions

Will one server actually cover more tables?
The product removes the trip that only discovers the request. Whether that covers another table depends on the room. ReferLift has not published a staffing study.
Do I need pagers or watches?
No. Staff open the inbox on a phone they already carry.
Do guests need an app?
No. They scan or tap, then use the browser.
Does this replace a server?
No. Someone still delivers the water, runs the food, and helps guests who will not scan.
How much does it cost?
The restaurant plan is $79 per location per month after a 15-day free trial, plus 0.5% of food and tax on paid orders. A card is required. It is not a POS.
What if the section is already too big?
Start with the tables that wave the most. The code does not fix a section that has no one to deliver the request.

Give one server the table name before the walk.
